LG CNS Completes Construction of Korea’s First Overseas AI Data Center, a 30MW Facility in Indonesia

■ Secures customers for the facility’s full capacity before completion; plans to expand into key Asia-Pacific markets
■ Integrates power, cooling and energy infrastructure through “One LG” solutions from LG Electronics,
LG Energy Solution and other affiliates
■ Adopts a hybrid air- and liquid-cooling design to support high-density GPU environments
■ Expands its portfolio across DBO, GPUaaS, prefabricated modular data centers and liquid-cooling infrastructure, with plans to extend into AI factories integrating AI platforms and services

LG CNS (CEO Shin Gyoon Hyun) has become the first Korean company to complete the construction of an AI data center overseas.

LG CNS has completed a 30 MW hyperscale AI data center in Jakarta, Indonesia. This marks the first time a Korean company has directly built an AI data center abroad for an overseas client. LG CNS also secured customers for the facility’s full capacity before construction was completed.

The project was commissioned last year by KMG, a joint venture between Indonesia’s Sinar Mas Group and Korea Investment Real Asset Management. It demonstrates LG CNS’s ability to bring its data center design, build and operate (DBO) capabilities, developed in Korea, to overseas markets.

LG CNS designed and built the facility as scalable infrastructure capable of reliably supporting high-performance computing powered by next-generation GPUs. To accommodate the high heat output of AI servers, the facility adopts a hybrid design combining air and liquid cooling. The completed first phase uses an air-cooling system that circulates air to lower indoor temperatures. Subsequent phases will add liquid cooling to manage GPU heat more efficiently, providing cooling infrastructure optimized for high-density AI server environments.

LG CNS also installed a power system capable of supporting rack power densities exceeding 300 kW. This is approximately 60 times the power required by a typical data center rack, enabling a stable power supply for AI computing infrastructure with multiple GPUs installed in a single rack. Redundant power infrastructure ensures that backup power can maintain stable operations around the clock, 365 days a year, even if the primary power supply is interrupted.

The project also incorporates an integrated “One LG” solution. Building on LG CNS’s DBO capabilities, it combines core technologies from across the group, including LG Electronics’ air-conditioning systems and LG Energy Solution’s batteries, to deliver integrated power, cooling and energy infrastructure. The project demonstrates the group’s combined capabilities in overseas AI infrastructure development and provides a reference for expanding LG CNS’s global AI data center business through One LG solutions.

LG CNS is currently designing the facility’s subsequent phases. Once those phases are completed, the facility’s total incoming power capacity is expected to reach 400 MW, positioning it as one of Indonesia’s major large-scale AI data centers.

Drawing on the overseas construction experience and customer reference gained through this project, LG CNS plans to expand its AI data center business across Asia-Pacific markets, including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Japan. The company aims to strengthen its competitiveness in the global AI data center market and meet growing demand for AI infrastructure.

As Korea’s leading data center provider, LG CNS continues to grow its data center revenue by introducing a range of business models in Korea alongside its overseas expansion. Its portfolio has expanded beyond colocation and DBO to include prefabricated modular data centers that enable rapid deployment, GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) subscriptions and liquid-cooling infrastructure. Building on these capabilities, LG CNS plans to expand its AI factory business by integrating AI platforms and services.

“Completing the AI data center in Indonesia is a significant achievement that brings the data center capabilities LG CNS has developed in Korea to overseas customers and demonstrates our competitiveness in the global market,” said Shin Gyoon Hyun, CEO of LG CNS. “Building on this project, we will expand our AI data center and AI factory businesses across global markets, including Asia-Pacific, where demand for AI computing is growing rapidly.” (End)
