In January 2024, LG CNS launched the AI Center by integrating its AI research institute and business divisions, creating a large-scale organization of about 300 AI experts. Specialists in 11 roles, including AI Scientist, AI Engineer, Software Engineer, Business Developer, and Product Owner/Manager, work together horizontally across departments, technologies, and business areas.
LG CNS AI covers the full AI lifecycle through four pillars: Research, Platform, Business, and Delivery.
We operate specialized labs in areas such as language, vision, and data, focusing on next-generation multimodal AI research. We hold core technologies, including DRAG, our in-house image-generation AI model, and pursue both research and real-world application by working with LG AI Research to use the large language model ExaOne in practical services. Last year alone, we carried out more than 20 AI PoCs to verify our accumulated technological capabilities. We currently provide six generative AI services and plan to expand the lineup to 10 within the year.
We have our own powerful AI platform, DAP, or Data Analytics & AI Platform. The DAP GenAI platform trains AI using only clients’ internal data, ensuring security and accuracy while preventing data leaks, errors, and hallucinations at the source. By using large language models such as OpenAI’s GPT and LG’s ExaOne, it can safely perform a wide range of tasks, including document summarization, classification, and report writing. As an integrated platform made up of generative AI, ML/DL, and vision AI modules, it enables rapid development of customized AI services through optimized prompt engineering and fine-tuning, and can be flexibly applied from on-premises environments to the cloud.
We concentrate our AI capabilities in areas where LG CNS has strong expertise, including finance, public services, cloud, and smart engineering. As Korea’s leading AX, or AI Transformation, company, we provide industry-specific solutions. At oil refineries, our AI video analytics monitor flare stack combustion in real time, 24 hours a day, and enable automatic control when abnormalities are detected. We also work with S-OIL to implement an intelligent digital refinery by directly applying the DAP GenAI platform and DAP ML/DL platform. From financial fraud detection to automated insurance claim reviews, we create practical value for business operations. Through partnerships with global leaders such as AWS, Dell, and Cohere, we apply the latest AI technologies to business operations in Korea. These efforts have also delivered results, with cloud and AI businesses now accounting for more than half of LG CNS’s total revenue.
Using full-stack capabilities across AI consulting, AI architecture, AI Engineering, and AI Modeling, we implement customized enterprise AI systems for clients and optimize their performance. We have a one-stop delivery system that covers the entire process, from consulting and architecture design to development, testing, and operations. By considering integration with existing legacy systems, we help clients adopt AI smoothly across their businesses. Through thorough pre-testing and quality management, we achieve an error rate close to zero. We are also continuing to strengthen our global delivery capabilities to successfully carry out overseas projects in regions such as Asia and Japan.
