LG CNS Architecture consists of two organizations, Cloud Infra Architecture and Application Architecture, with about 430 experts working together. Covering the full spectrum of architecture from infrastructure to applications, they serve as the technical backbone of large-scale projects.
The Architecture role designs optimal IT system structures with stability, usability, and efficiency in mind, and leads technology throughout the entire project lifecycle. It is a top-tier IT role that broadly handles system performance, failure resolution, and even large-scale system consulting.
Architecture is divided into Cloud Infra Architecture and Application Architecture, depending on the design target. Cloud Infra Architecture designs the foundational structure of systems, including networks, security, servers, and data stores in Cloud and On-Premise environments. Application Architecture designs application structures and development frameworks in MSA, Cloud Native, and AI-based development environments based on business requirements. Each is responsible for the system’s foundation and implementation structure, and in large-scale projects, they work closely together from an integrated architecture perspective.
At the start of system implementation, Cloud Infra Architecture defines the technologies and standards to be applied, and designs and implements various complex technical elements needed to realize them, including networks, security, servers, storage, Cloud platforms, data stores, and monitoring environments. It leads infrastructure environment design and implementation, developer support, issue resolution, and performance optimization, improving the overall quality of IT systems.
This role builds the core technical foundation for large-scale systems essential to everyday life, such as Finance AX platforms for internet banking, online securities trading, and insurance product subscriptions, as well as Public Sector AX systems that integrate national administrative services. To do this, it covers a wide range of infrastructure architecture technologies, including Cloud Native (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS), On-Premise-based platforms, data modeling, data stores, Big Data, and AI technologies.
The organization has about 240 members and consists of specialized teams by job function and role.
These teams design and implement foundational environments for software and data across Public Cloud and On-Premise environments.
These teams model complex and diverse data and design and implement data stores.
This team is responsible for Public Cloud technologies and DevOps systems.
This team supports architecture implementation remotely in a shared model and innovates the implementation process.
This team oversees AX projects from pre-sales to implementation, operations, and standardization.
This team specializes in resolving IT issues.
Application Architecture designs and implements stable and scalable application architectures based on business requirements, and defines the overall technical structure and development standards of systems. In On-Premise as well as MSA, Cloud, and AI-based development environments, it designs and implements various complex technical elements, including development frameworks, middleware, interfaces, CI/CD pipelines, and Cloud Native technologies.
In addition, it applies AI-based development methods, or AI-Native Development, to projects using technologies such as Prompt Engineering, AI agent design and development, and Ontology Modeling, helping improve both development productivity and quality.
The organization has about 190 members and consists of seven teams.
This team designs and implements application architecture for next-generation projects and technically leads development organizations.
This team designs and implements infrastructure and overall application architecture across Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud environments.
This team designs and implements AI platforms and infrastructure environments.
This team is responsible for the full implementation of MSA projects, from Inner Architecture to Outer Architecture.
This team consists of experts who design architecture structures and provide direction.
This team directly develops the AI-Native Dev platform.
This team establishes the implementation framework for the AI-Native Dev platform and rolls it out to project sites.
One example where architects played a key role is the integrated IT system transformation project for a domestic telecommunications company. It was a challenging project that transformed an aging On-Premise-based monolithic structure, which had been operated for more than 10 years, into MSA. To respond to rapidly changing client needs, LG CNS clearly defined the purpose of adopting MSA and designed and implemented the optimal application architecture, strengthening the system’s agility and stability. The project significantly reduced the time required for mobile service activation and product launches, and also implemented a Hybrid Cloud environment suited to business characteristics. It was a meaningful project that successfully rebuilt a large-scale system with about 7,000 concurrent users and 160 million daily transactions into Hybrid Cloud-based MSA architecture.
There is also a notable case in the financial core system area. Because financial core systems process sensitive client data, stability and reliability are the top priorities, making this an area where new architecture adoption has traditionally been approached conservatively. LG CNS separated KakaoBank’s card business domain from the existing legacy system and restructured it into a Cloud Native-based MSA architecture. By securing not only high performance and stability, but also cloud-based scalability and availability, this case proved that AM can be fully applied to financial core domains.
Recently, architects have also been playing a central role in AX projects across all industries. In environments where access to external networks is restricted, they implement Private Cloud-based AI systems, while application architects lead AI-based development methods and establish AI Native development frameworks across various projects.
Each year, LG CNS selects in-house technology experts and recognizes them as Expert, Meister, or Research/Specialist Fellows through its core talent program. The Architecture organization has a particularly high proportion of core talent and is made up of recognized technology experts in each field.
