Build Center/Launch Center

This is LG CNS’s cloud service organization, delivering the latest technologies, including AX and cloud, to clients faster than anyone else. As Korea’s first organization of its kind, with about 350 members, it is shaping App Modernization with AI.

What roles does the Build Center/Launch Center cover?

The Build Center and Launch Center aim to develop full-stack engineers who can handle everything from analysis and design to implementation. In the industry, engineers usually focus on a specific role, such as front-end or back-end development. Here, things are different.

One example came during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Just one day after the idea for a self-diagnosis system was proposed, it was launched across all LG affiliates. This was possible because the organization had full-stack engineers who could handle every stage, from planning and coding to deployment. More recently, with AI vibe coding added to the process, both the speed and scope of work have expanded even further.

What kind of team is this?

The Build Center began in Seattle in 2019. Members were dispatched to Slalom Build, a leading cloud consulting company, for 17 weeks of cloud service technology training. There, they gained hands-on experience not only in the latest cloud technologies, but also in the most advanced ways of working. The Build Center was launched around these field-trained members, and with the Launch Center joining in 2022, the two organizations now lead the cloud-native application service market together.

What kind of work do these teams do?

The two organizations share the same direction, while each has its own area of expertise. The Build Center provides optimized application implementation services using cloud environments and AI technologies. The Launch Center specializes in public cloud and implements application services suited to cloud environments.

What kind of culture do these teams have?

The Build Center and Launch Center work in an Agile way. Work is divided within team-based Scrums, enabling fast decision-making. By trying quickly and learning quickly, the teams create better services with agility.

The organization has one core principle, freedom and responsibility. Members communicate using nicknames instead of job titles. They can learn from anyone, and every opinion is valued equally. The organization operates under a 100% autonomous work system, where members decide their own commute, working hours, workplace, vacation, and goals.

Who are we looking for?

This organization has been shaped by its “Shoulder to Shoulder” culture, where seniors and juniors support and encourage each other in real time, one-on-one. Through this process of working through challenges together and growing together, each member builds their capabilities. This is how highly sought-after technical experts and full-stack engineers are developed.

That means even new hires can take on the challenge. What matters is not your credentials, but your willingness and passion to learn. As you gain diverse experience in a free and flexible environment, you will feel yourself growing every day just by doing the work.
